Recently, the Chinese Mobile Company Huawei released two midrange smartphones which are the GR5 and GR3 in various countries including Nigeria, South Africa, Pakistan, India,  and Bangladesh. The price and specifications of Huawei GR3 and GR5 places them in the category of the most sought after smartphone devices on the net. According to Mr. Leo Jiang, Manager of Huawei Consumer Business Group Nigeria,

Focusing on Huawei GR3 specs which this post centers on, this device is a 4G enabled android smartphone in the Huawei G series and a smaller version of the GR5 coupled with essential software and hardware Integrations. For me, a downside to the Huawei GR3 would be its battery capacity. When youve known something better, you might tend not to appreciate something good. Some smartphone devices are already boasting of a 4000mAh and 5000mAh battery capacities, one would atleast expect a phone released in 2016 to feature same.

Other than its batterys capacity, another downside wouldve been the price it is being offered. But Its features and specification does make up for the high price of Hauwei GR3. This device built with elegant design has been equipped to deliver a high level of performance that will be appealing to users.  

The Tecno Boom J8 is a low mid-range smartphone and a successor to the Boom J7 that was earlier released in 2015 by the Chinese based smartphone company, Tecno. Users who were impressed by the performance and functionality of the Boom J7 will definitely be awed by the specifications of Tecno boom J8 because this device is a beast (in a good way). The J8 should be one of the best budget android phones in 2016.

Gone are the days when users needed a pouch to hide the Tecno logo on their devices because with the release of devices like these, owning a tecno device now in Nigeria is a thing of pride and joy (for some people sha). One has stopped twisting their nose in disgust at Tecno devices because of their exciting features and budget friendly prices. Tecno as with other smartphone manufacturers that are trending in the African market, gained the trust of android users by not just designing devices with great capabilities, but ones that are also affordable.

Previously shared, were the specifications and key features of Tecno Boom J7 and below, the specifications and price of Tecno J8 Boom is given. You have a black heart if you dont fall inlove with this device as the name "BOOM J8" alone sends a thrill down my spine..lol. Fascinating thing about Tecno devices lately is their names and peculiar feature to each class. We have the "Phantom" which are top of the line devices, the "Camon" which are the camera-centric devices, the "Boom" which are devices for music lovers and next in line will be the "Storm" (Techlasss prediction) which will be Techlass lovers devices. Instead of continuously designing phones with similar specs but different names, Tecno has innovated by settling for 3 major series of smartphones. Not to derail further, heres a review of the mind blowing Tecno J8 specifications. 

The Tecno Boom J8 features a 5.5 Inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels and a pixel density of 267 PPI. At 5.5 Inch, this device has earned itself a place in the category of smartphone devices tagged, Phablets. With its large display screen, users can expect great wide viewing angles. Usually, the best screen resolution for a phone is 300 PPI, and at 267PPI, the Boom J8 is not  so far behind as graphics and pictures will still stand out much more clearly.

For its build, the body of the Boom J8 is made of plastic with metal trimming at the sides. It has a dimension of 153.3 x 76.84 x 7.35 mm and is said to be one of the slimmest android smartphones in the market today.  Its slim body with round edges makes the device easy to hold and carry about with little or no discomfort.

The battery capacity of the Tecno Boom J8 is 3000mAh and with Tecnos HiOS, this battery provides support for fast charging, normalizing the charging to prevent battery damage and an ultra power-saving mode. Id expected the battery to be atleast 4,000mAh as is the trend these days, but it is said that the Boom J8 can give you as much as 7 days of sleep mode on standby mode. This battery is non-removable and this may be a disadvantage when the device does hang since one cannot easily pull out the battery.

For connectivity, the Boom J8 supports dual SIMs, LTE connectivity, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, hotspot, bluetooth v4.0, GPS, NFC and microUSB and comes with acelerometer, gyroscope, proximity sensors. InnJoo Halo Plus is a mid range android smartphone that was released early this year with the duo, Innjoo Fire 2 and Innjoo Fire 2 Plus. It is the latest variant in the Halo series and a successor to the not so much admired Innjoo Halo. Featuring lower specifications than the two aforementioned devices, the Halo Plus is still an impressive device when compared to few smartphones in its range. Its promise of a long battery life, good user interface and an acceptable level of performance at a budget friendly price makes it a fair choice for the average smartphone user.

For its display, the Innjoo Halo plus features a  5.5 inch display screen with a resolution of  720 x 1280 pixels. The size of this display and its resolution provides a large enough screen having cool effects to allow operations like gaming, watching videos and viewing web pages.

It sports a curved edge body that is made of metal, has a dimension of 145.6 x 72 x 9.6 mm and weight of 158 g. Its slim and light weight gives it a hand fitting design that makes it easy to hold and carry about, hence delivering a comfortable user experience

The Innjoo Halo plus is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, Mali-400-MP2 GPU, IGB of RAM and an 8GB internal memory storage that is expandable up to 32GB. Although the speed of this processor has been improved than that of the Innjoo Halo, this device still features the same processor, RAM, and Internal storage as its predecessor. One should expect a slightly improved level of performance from the Innjoo Halo Plus. 

For the average smartphone user that may not run apps and games that take up more of the RAMs space , this device may run smoothly without lags, hangs or odd crashing. Its Internal memory storage though on the smaller side, does not really make it a downside since provision has been made for expansion.

The Innjoo Halo Plus features a 5MP back camera with flash light and a 2MP front camera. The front camera supports supports 720P High Definition videos while the back camera can produce 480P Standard Definition videos. This implies that videos captured using the front camera will have less quality and size compared to those captured by its rear camera. According to Innjoo, the camera comes with filters that makes it perform better and its dual flash lights help in increasing the video brightness and quality.

Probably, Innjoos aim was to keep the price of Innjoo Halo Plus budget friendly and give it specs similar to its predecessor, but at a better level of performance. On comparing the specs of Innjoo Halo Plus with Innjoo Halo, I didnt see any significant upgrade in the former. I expected an improvement in basic components; either its RAM size, Internal memory capacity, camera or processor. Gone are the days when a phone was judged mainly by its design and popularity of its brand.

Alright, Alright, they improved the battery capacity from 3200 mAh to 3600 mAh and increased the processor speed, but no big deal. I wouldnt still trade one phone for another by such a small difference in battery capacity especially when its display screen is larger. Its display screen being wider than that of the Innjoo Halo means that itll drain the battery faster. So now we get to minus that from the 3600 mAh battery (bring out your calculator), hence we might still have a 3200 mAh battery. An improvement in processor wouldve made this change useful since the phone will consume less power.

Also, an average smartphone user might not know the importance of a faster processor and will therefore not appreciate one on this phone. Let me not spoil your mind about this phone, its a very good phone sha. But do you know its 2MP front camera might make you look like you just walked out of the 18th century? but look on the brighter side, everyone will get to know you just visited your ancestors.  That was a joke. But this phone still has its good sides, for one, having an octa-core  processor does not mean it wouldve been more powerful. With its quad-core processor, one can still get fast and fluid multitasking, smooth 3D gameplay, and speedy camera performance on the Injoo Halo Plus..
