Display and Build
For its display, the Redmi Note 3 features a 5.5 inches IPS LCD with Full HD at a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. This screen does not offer any protection against scratches or damage by using a corning gorilla screen. It has a pixel density of 403ppi that will be capable of producing images with good quality on the phones screen. This device promises a great deal of brightness and vivid colours on its screen. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 also has a fingerprint sensor that is located at the back of the device just below the camera. Xiaomi says that this fingerprint sensor is ultra-fast and can unlock the phablet in just 0.3 seconds.
The body of the Redmi Note 3 is made from metal, giving it a premium touch and more expensive design than its plastic predecessor. The Note 3 is 8.65mm thick, which makes it slightly thicker than the 8.3mm Redmi Note 2. This android device with its size and weight of 165 grams earns it the name, phablet. It is available in silver, dark grey and gold colours. Its curvy edges, colour options and slim body all combine to give this device its stylish look.
Processor and OS
For its fast processing performance, the Redmi Note 3 runs on Android version 5.0.2 Lollipop and is powered by a 64-bit MediaTek Helio X10 octa-core processor which has eight cores running at a maximum speed of 1.95 GHz. It has two models, one of which has 2GB of RAM and 16GB inbuilt storage, and the other model has 3GB of RAM and 32GB inbuilt storage. The RAM on both devices allows for multitasking, smooth switching between apps and good navigation across the device without experiencing lags or hangs. This device also has an accelerometer and gyroscope sensors which helps to to improve control in games.
For the model with 16GB of inbuilt storage out of which 9.43GB is available for use by its users, this storage might be large enough to contain files for low memory users, but for high memory users who may have need to install sophisticated apps and games that usually take up so much memory space, this might be insufficient, hence the need for a microSD card to expand the inbuilt memory. Unlike some android devices that come with a microSD card slot, it is absent in the Redmin Note 3, hence the inbuilt memory cannot be expanded via microSD card.
Camera
For its camera, Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 sports a 13MP rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, HDR, phase detection autofocus (PDAF), and a 5MP front camera with 36 smart beauty profiles for lover of selfies. Image quality produced by these cameras are of good quality especially under good light.

The battery capacity of the Redmi Note 3 is 4000mAh and is almost 1000 mAh more than its predecessor.The battery comes with fast charging support that can charge up to 50 percent in 1 hour. While the battery capacity has increased in the Redmi Note 3 more than that of the Redmi Note 2, the battery is no longer removable. Price and Availability
Although the Redmi Note 3 is available in some countries like China, it is yet to be lauched in Nigeria. In China, the 16GB and 32GB models are priced at about US$140 and US$180 respectively. Deducing from this price, it is expected that the price of Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 in Nigeria will range from ? 27,000 to about ? 35,000. When available in Nigeria, this device can be purchased at reputable online stores within the country.

Tech Lasss Verdict:
The absence of a microSD card slot in order to bring about memory expansion, the lack of a scratch resistant glass screen, no update to Android Marshmallow 6.0, and a non-removable battery are some of the limitations this device has. These may all be unimportant to an average smartphone user, but for gadget freaks, these limitations especially the lack of memory card slots may not be overlooked.
But from the specs above, this device does have lots of desirable features expected by users from a high-end device. The metallic body which gives it its premium feel, fingerprint sensor as with other features may not really be special features in high-end devices, but for a device that is offered at that price, it definitely is. It knows its limitations and does what it’s best at, hence, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is a go-getter!
