In this post is a list of windows 8 keyboard shortcut keys. With the keyboard shortcuts on windows 8 and 8.1 integrated by Microsoft, it makes navigation through the OS easier and faster. A combination of two or more keys that you can use to perform a task that would typically require a mouse makes up these shortcuts. Other than the obvious ones like  "Ctrl + C for copy", "Ctrl + X for cut", "Ctrl + V for paste" "Ctrl + K to link in", there are several other shortcuts unknown to some people which can make working with windows easier, saving a lot of time and effort.

List Of Windows 8 Keyboard Shortcuts

1. Windows key + Tab :  To show open apps.
 
2. Windows key + I :  To open the Settings.
 
3. Windows Key + L : This shortcut locks the computer.
 
4. Windows key + .  : To pin and unpin Windows apps on the side of the screen. 
 
5. Windows key + M : Minimizes all the open windows.
 
6. Windows Key + Shift + M : Restore all minimized Windows
 
7. Windows Key + + :  Zoom in using Magnifier
 
8. Windows Key + -  :  Zoom out using Magnifier
 
9. Windows Key + F1 : Open Windows Help and Support 
 
10. Windows Key + E : Launch Windows Explorer Window
 
11. Shift + Delete : Permanently delete files without sending it to Recycle Bin
 
12. Windows Key + R : Open Run dialog box
 
13. Windows key + D : To access the desktop quickly and minimize every open window.
 
14. Press and hold Shift While inserting a device with removable storage prevents automatic run.
 
15. CTRL + B: Bold
 
16. CTRL + U: To Underline 
 
17. CTRL + I: For Italics.
 
18. Ctrl + Shift + esc: This keyboard shortcut allows access to the task manager. 
 
19. Alt + Ctrl + Del: This shortcut brings up the lock, sign out, change password etc screen.
 
20. Ctrl + Click: This shortcut automatically opens a link in a new tab.
 
21. Alt + Print Screen: This takes the screenshot of the current active window using either greenshot tool or sniper tool.
 
22. Ctrl + C on an error dialog box:  It copies the error message.
 
23. Ctrl + T: This keyboard shortcut opens a new tab in internet browsers.
 
24. Ctrl + Shift + T: Reopens the last tab that was closed.
 
25. Ctrl + Shift + N: This shortcut opens a new window in Google Chrome.
 
26. Ctrl + Shift + P: For opening a new private window in Mozilla Firefox.
 
27. Ctrl + W: For closing the current tab in browsers.
 
28. Ctrl + Backspace: This shortcut deletes the entire last word you typed.
 
29. Ctrl + Left or Right Arrow key: This shortcut allows you to move the cursor one word at a time instead of the default one character at a time.
 
30. Ctrl  + +:  This shortcut allows you to zoom in web pages in web browsers. Useful when text on a web page is too small to read properly. 
 
31. Ctrl + - : This shortcut lets you zoom out web pages in web browsers, to create a smaller display of text and images.
 
32. Ctrl + 0: Reset the webpages zoom.
 
33. Ctrl + L: This shortcut allows you to quickly jump to the address bar of your web browser.
 
34. Windows key + Pause/Break: Quickly open the system properties dialog box.
 
35. Ctrl + Shift  + Delete: To quickly delete your browsers history, cookies, cache and other details that it stores while you surf the internet.
 
36. Ctrl + H: Brings up the browsers History
 
37. F2: Allows you to rename the selected file.
 
38. Ctrl + F: This keyboard shortcut opens the Find option in any program.
 
39. Ctrl + S: To quickly save a work in progress, this shortcut will come in handy.
 
40. Ctrl + Home and Ctrl+End: Useful for quickly going to the top and bottom of a page.
 
41. Ctrl + P: Useful for printing the current page.
 
42. Space Bar: While viewing a web page in a browser, pressing space bar moves the page down.
 
43. Alt + Tab: Useful for quickly cycling between running applications. Press along with Shift to cycle backwards.
 
44. Ctrl + Tab: Cycle between tabs in your browser.
 
45. Ctrl + F5: Clears the cache and refreshes the current tab.
 
46. Shift + Right click: Open alternate right click options.
 
47. Alt+Enter Key: To open a files properties.
 
48. Ctrl + 1, 2, 3: For switching between different tabs on browsers
 
49. Ctrl + Shift + Arrow keys:  To quickly highlight content.
 
50. Ctrl + Shift + Home or Ctrl + Shift + End: Selects the Entire line.
